Mar Girgis (مار جرجس) on Line 1 is the gateway to Coptic Cairo, one of the most historically dense square kilometers in the city. Step out and you’re minutes from the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Coptic Museum, and the Roman-era Babylon Fortress, plus the church of Saint George (Mar Girgis) that gives the station its name.

It’s one of the few stations in the network built specifically to serve tourism and religious pilgrimage, not just commuting.

محطة مار جرجس على الخط الأول هي بوابة القاهرة القبطية، واحدة من أكثر المناطق كثافة تاريخية في المدينة على مساحة كيلومتر مربع واحد. بمجرد الخروج منها، تكون على بُعد دقائق من الكنيسة المعلقة، ومعبد بن عزرا اليهودي، والمتحف القبطي، وحصن بابليون الروماني، بالإضافة إلى كنيسة القديس جرجس (مار جرجس) التي تحمل المحطة اسمها.

وهي واحدة من المحطات القليلة في الشبكة التي بُنيت خصيصًا لخدمة السياحة والحج الديني، وليس فقط للتنقل اليومي.
